The development is very original. The characters that appear on the screen have the mission of defeating others by means of their fencing sword. Every time you kill your opponent you must gain ground in order to reach one of its extremes. The speed of Nidhogg's movements is essential, as every death brings a reappearance after only three seconds of departure. Dodging the traps and attacks you will advance until the end of the phase, when you will become the favorite dish of a huge dragon.

In both local and multiplayer mode, the player who makes the fewest mistakes in fencing matches is rewarded, while those who fail are severely punished. The Nidhogg rhythm is very high at all times, which requires enough reflexes to attack without receiving blows.
